A woman in a flowing white dress walks along a stone path, holding a Bible, amid a cityscape backdrop with a glowing cross and a bridge in the distance. The text "Living Holy in an Unholy World" accompanies the image, suggesting themes of faith and resilience.

A 12-Part Newsletter Series About Faithful Living in a Changing Culture

The world has never been responsible for defining holiness. God has.

Yet Christians live within cultures that continually shape how we think, what we normalize, what we tolerate, and sometimes even how we interpret obedience.

That creates an important question:

How do we live faithfully for God when the culture around us is moving in another direction?

Living Holy in an Unholy World is a 12-part biblical teaching series examining holiness beyond religious appearances, legalism, and surface-level behavior.

It explores the everyday decisions, influences, habits, pressures, failures, and acts of obedience that shape a life increasingly set apart for God.

Holiness Begins With Belonging to God

Biblical holiness is not about performing well enough to convince God to accept us.

Salvation is by grace. But grace was never intended to leave us unchanged.

As we grow in our relationship with God, His Word begins confronting the habits, values, thought patterns, influences, and compromises that do not reflect who we have become in Christ.

Holiness therefore becomes part of spiritual formation.

It asks:

  • Who is shaping me?
  • What am I allowing to influence my thinking?
  • Where has culture become more authoritative than Scripture?
  • What does obedience require from me now?

Those questions become increasingly important when following Christ means living differently from the people around us.

A Progressive Study of Holy Living

Living Holy in an Unholy World is intentionally structured as a journey.

We begin with the habits that strengthen a believerโ€™s walk with God and then move deeper into the cultural pressures that challenge biblical conviction.

From there, the series explores guarding the heart, learning from Danielโ€™s faithfulness, understanding the spiritual fruit of holiness, and examining the difference between biblical freedom and cultural definitions of freedom.

We will also confront some of the harder issues surrounding holiness:

  • legalism and performance;
  • compromise and discernment;
  • cultural influence;
  • failure and guilt;
  • grace and restoration;
  • the battle for the mind; and
  • perseverance when faithful living becomes difficult.

The final goal is not simply to identify what Christians should avoid.

It is to understand what kind of people God is forming us to become.

This Is Not a Study About Perfection

Living holy does not mean never struggling. It does not mean never questioning. And it certainly does not mean never failing.

Imperfect people live holy lives because they belong to a perfect God.

  • There will be places where Scripture confronts us.
  • There will be places where we recognize compromise.
  • There may be habits that need to change, boundaries that need to be established, thinking that needs to be renewed, and decisions that need to be reconsidered.
  • There will also be grace.

The purpose of this series is not condemnation.

It is spiritual examination that leads to greater faithfulness.

Set Apart Without Being Removed

Jesus never called His followers to disappear from the world. He called them to belong to Him while living within it. That distinction matters.

Christians will encounter cultural pressure.

  • We will face choices about conformity, conviction, obedience, and acceptance.
  • We will sometimes stand apart.
  • We will sometimes stumble.

But through Scripture, grace, repentance, and the work of the Holy Spirit, we can continue learning how to live faithfully.

The question is not whether the world around us will change. It will.

The question is:

Who will determine how we live when it does?

Living Holy in an Unholy World invites us to let God remain the answer.
